Purchased this because it was recommended - the text is being used for the class. Although there is a free online edition, I prefer a physical book in which I can make notations.Using this book to learn (or re-learn) calculus is like learning to ride a high-power street bike by practicing/training with a Pogo stick. Something's missing, perhaps more than one 'something.'
Cover is too slick to make an effective door stop. Using it to start a fire in the fireplace leaves way too much ash.
Any other calculus text book is a better option (i.e. Stewart, Larson, Finney/Thomas, Swokowski) and might end up being essential to learning - not just passing.

Helpful, but this version has a ton of typos. There is one on the professors website that is free and updated.
This book is well written and easy to understand. However It could use more memory devices. Learning math is 30-40% memorization and 60-70% forced recall once you understand what they are talking about and memory devices could speed up the learning curve dramatically. I feel it is important to not only learn how to learn while learning but also to have material taught how people learn with all learning techniques and devices. This is where the book can improve.
